Biography

Miguel St. Michael is the musical moniker of Luis Miguel Ramírez, a Mexican-American singer-songwriter, award winning filmmaker, and fashion designer. He is the frontman for the group Miguel St. Michael y Los Milagros. 


Embracing his dual cultural heritage with pride, Miguel's artistry transcends borders, faith, and sexuality, resonating profoundly with diverse audiences. His latest album ‘Entre Luces’ (2024) marks his debut as a solo artist. 

Born in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and based in Austin, Miguel broke into the Texas Music Scene as the former frontman of the acclaimed Latin Alternative band Son de Rey, releasing the ‘Ojos Azules Album’ (2015), and receiving multiple nominations at the Austin Music Awards.

He has shared the stage with many prominent artists including AB Quintanilla & Kumbia All Stars, El Gran Silencio, La Mafia, Michael Salgado, Stefani Montiel, Gina Chavez, Ceci Bastida, Como Las Movies, among others. 

Voice
Miguel St. Michael showcases a luminous lyric tenor vocal range, skillfully blending chest and falsetto techniques in his performances. His unique tone harmoniously merges elements of R&B, Pop, Tejano and Regional Mexican genres.

Culture & Upbringing
Miguel's lyrical narratives resonate with poignant reflections on hardship and resilience, offering a soul-stirring glimpse into the profound journey of self-discovery and empowerment as a Queer Mexican-American artist. 

His journey into Latin music was ignited by the indelible legacy of Selena Quintanilla, inspiring him to learn Spanish, culminating in a master's degree in Spanish Language and Culture from The University of Salamanca in Spain.

St. Michael is not only a musician but also a storyteller who finds joy in bringing the narratives of his songs to life through film, a complementary medium to his music, that allows him to delve deeper into the emotional landscapes and visual imagery that accompany his lyrics.  



Recognition

Miguel's music has also been featured on KUTX, Sun Radio, Future Rootz Lumpen Radio 105.5FM in Chicago, Great Day San Antonio and  CBS Austin. His visibility also extends internationally, with features in LGBTQ publications such as Queerty, Vidas Y Colores (MX), and Shangay.com (ES). 

During Pride Month, St. Michael released "La De Mala Gente" , a dynamic collaboration featuring RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Cynthia Lee Fontaine and rapper Babiboi. This single, along with his recent release “Guapito, Divino” were also featured on BMI Texas’ Top 10 playlist on Spotify.

Miguel is also an award winning filmmaker. His cumbia short film “Guapito, Divino” which he directed and produced, won “Best Music Video” at the Texas Short Film Festival and the Audience Choice Award for “Best Music Video” at Latino Film Market. The award winning music video short film was also selected to screen at Cine Las Americas, aGLIFF, and the Atlanta Short Film Festival among others. 


In 2026 his music video Cumbia Espiritual also won "Best Music Video" at the Texas Short Film Festival and was screened at Latino Film Market. The video also received an honorable mention at Cine Las Americas.

Live Performances

His live performances have enraptured audiences at esteemed venues and festivals like the UMLAUF Sculpture Gardens, the Moody Amphitheater, Meanwhile Brewing Company, and Pecan Street Festival. He also has sung the National Anthem for the Round Rock Express Chupacabra's Copa de Diversión.

With his latest solo endeavor titled "Entre Luces," produced by Grammy Award winner Fabian Hernandez, Miguel St. Michael has honed into his craft as a prolific singer-songwriter and vocal producer.

Themes of queer love, dating, and spirituality permeate the album, ensuring a deeply resonant and captivating musical experience for listeners.
