Miguel St. Michael is the artistic moniker of Luis Miguel Ramírez, a Mexican-American singer-songwriter, award-winning filmmaker, and fashion designer whose work exists at the intersection of music, culture, and identity. Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas and based in Austin, Miguel draws inspiration from his bicultural upbringing, queer identity, and the vibrant contrasts between tradition and contemporary pop culture.

Growing up along the Texas–Mexico border, Miguel was introduced to the sounds of Tejano and cumbia through artists like Selena Quintanilla and Luis Miguel, while simultaneously finding inspiration in pop icons such as Cher, Britney Spears, and the Backstreet Boys. These seemingly different musical worlds shaped his artistic identity, inspiring him to create work that celebrates cultural duality rather than conforming to expectations.

With over 16 years in the music industry, Miguel first gained recognition as the frontman of the acclaimed Latin alternative band Son de Rey, releasing Ojos Azules (2015) and earning multiple nominations at the Austin Music Awards. Throughout his career, he has shared the stage with prominent artists including A.B. Quintanilla & Kumbia All Starz, El Gran Silencio, La Mafia, Michael Salgado, Stefani Montiel, Gina Chavez, Ceci Bastida, and Como Las Movies.

Today, he fronts Miguel St. Michael y Los Milagros, blending Latin pop, rock, cumbia, R&B, and Regional Mexican influences. His luminous lyric tenor voice, characterized by its expressive transitions between chest voice and falsetto, brings emotional depth to songs exploring love, resilience, self-discovery, and empowerment. His debut solo album, Entre Luces (2024), marked a defining chapter in his artistic evolution, followed by his forthcoming sophomore album, Talavera, which draws inspiration from Mexican ceramic traditions as a metaphor for transformation and reinvention.

Beyond the stage, Miguel extends his storytelling into film and fashion. As an award-winning filmmaker, he creates visually expressive narratives that bring the emotional landscapes of his music to life. His music video Guapito, Divino received recognition at the Texas Short Film Festival and the Latino Film Market in New York City.

His fashion practice includes Guadalupe Threads, an upcycled clothing line that reimagines denim through Catholic iconography, Mexican folk imagery, and contemporary design. By transforming familiar cultural symbols into wearable art, Miguel explores the relationships between heritage, faith, queerness, and self-expression.

Miguel's dedication to cultural storytelling also extends into education. Inspired by Selena's legacy to deepen his connection with the Spanish language, he earned a master's degree in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca in Spain. As an educator and artist, he advocates for the power of language, creativity, and cultural representation to connect communities.

Whether through music, fashion, or film, Miguel challenges conventional boundaries of genre, gender, faith, and cultural identity. His work is an ongoing exploration of belonging, transformation, and the freedom to define oneself.
